Summary:
This position is responsible for providing global technical direction and support to plants that manufacture hose extrusion/forming for Fluid Transfer System products. This position will develop advanced hose extrusion/forming technologies, writing process standards, and writing of equipment specifications.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND
Responsibilities:
1. Works under the direction of the Director, Advanced Manufacturing, with assignments and expectations tied closely with global business objectives pertaining to advancements in both process and product technology of hose extrusion and forming.
2. Leads the research and implementation of new or improved equipment/tooling/processes to satisfy changing production requirements. Works with outside machinery suppliers, machine shops, plant engineering, and maintenance in these efforts.
3. Leads in the validation of new processes.
4. Initiates projects and tasks through creative insight, leveraging manufacturing and product knowledge.
5. Confirms feasibility/capability of proposed product/process improvements using statistical methods.
6. Keeps current on developments related to manufacturing and product technology through meetings with suppliers, customers, trade publications, shows and conferences.
7. Reports status and progress of projects monthly through a Project Status Report.
8. For assigned technologies, will lead as communicative link with technical and manufacturing sites globally for the purpose of process development, Best Practice exchange, standardization. International travel will be required.
9. Oversees and approves all North American division extrusion and forming tooling designs utilizing the global best practice standards.
10. Oversees the design and validation of all North American division hose extrusion and forming specifications utilizing the global best practice standards.
REQUIRED EDUCATION and/or
Experience:
Four-year technical degree (mechanical and/or chemical) with 5 or more years of experience in manufacturing of hose extrusion and forming.
REQUIRED SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
1. This position requires a person who is organized and has demonstrated a proactive task approach to work.
2. The position requires a high level of problem solving and data driven analysis (Kepner-Tregoe, DMAIC, and 8D).
3. Interpersonal skills are necessary to coordinate and lead projects and meetings effectively.
4. Computer competency required, including spreadsheet, word-processing software, and AutoCAD.
5. Experience of equipment/processes on hose extrusion/forming manufacturing.
6. Knowledge of general lab analysis equipment and ability to use it.
Travel expectancy is 50% and greater.Estimated Salary: $20 to $28 per hour based on qualifications.
